Plan & Prep (“Plan & Prep,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides Tax Planning, Tax Preparation, Bookkeeping, Payroll, and Fractional CFO services through our website at planpreptax.com (the “Site”) and in connection with the services we deliver to clients (together, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights available to you.

Depending on which Services you use, “you” in this Policy may refer to an individual tax client, a business client, an owner or authorized representative of a business client, or, in the case of our Payroll services, an employee of one of our business clients whose information we process on that client’s behalf.

Because our Services include tax return preparation and planning, and financial and payroll services, we are subject to special rules governing certain information, including Internal Revenue Code §7216 (for tax return information) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) (for nonpublic personal financial information across our tax, bookkeeping, payroll, and CFO services). Sections 3 and 4 below explain those rules in plain language.

Federal law prohibits us, as tax return preparers, from disclosing or using your tax return information for purposes other than tax return preparation without your knowledge and consent.

If we wish to use your tax return information for purposes beyond preparing your return, for example, to offer you other services, or to share it with an affiliated or unaffiliated third party for a non-preparation purpose, we will provide you with a separate, specific consent form describing the intended use or disclosure, in the format required by IRS regulations. You are not required to sign that consent in order to receive tax preparation services from us, and you may revoke a prior consent at any time by notifying us in writing.

We may use and disclose your tax return information without additional consent where the law permits, such as: to prepare and file your return; to comply with a court order or other legal process; in connection with a review of our services for quality or legal compliance; or as otherwise authorized by IRS regulations under §7216.

3b. Our Role as a Service Provider for Payroll Clients

When we provide Payroll services, we process information about your employees or contractors solely on your behalf and according to your instructions, in order to run payroll, make tax deposits and filings, and administer related withholdings. In this context, your business is the party responsible for that data, and we act as your service provider (sometimes called a “processor”).

4. Financial Privacy & GLBA

As a provider of tax and financial services, we are also subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and its implementing regulations, which govern how we may use and share your “nonpublic personal information” (NPI).
